Applications for the 2017-18 Watauga County Preschool Program are now available

The Children’s Council of Watauga County is currently collaborating with Watauga County Schools and Appalachian State University to provide high-quality, pre-kindergarten classrooms for the 2017-18 school year.

You can pick up an application at the following locations:

-The Children’s Council of Watauga County Office
-Watauga County Schools’ Gragg Education Center
-The Blue Ridge Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Office.

Please note all applications must be returned by May 12, 2017 to The Children’s Council of Watauga County Office –
225 Birch St. Boone NC 28607 or Fax: (828) 264-8008.

Please visit one of the below locations for Spanish assistance or general application assistance from 8:30-9:30 am:

Cove Creek / April 27th
Valle Crucis / May 4th
Green Valley / May 11th

To be eligible:
*Child must be four-years old on or before August 31st, 2017.
*Child is from a family whose gross income is at or below 75% of the State Median Income (SMI).
*Children of certain military families are also eligible without regard to income.
*20% of age eligible children enrolled may have family incomes in excess of 75% SMI if they have documented risk factors in specific categories including:
Developmental Disability
Limited English Proficiency
Educational Need
Chronic Health Condition

Although a child may meet one or more eligibility factors, placement is not guaranteed in an NC Pre-K classroom.
