Spring is a time of coming out of hibernation! It’s a
time of new life and growth coming forth, a time to get out and get involved in our communities to make a difference. This weekend offers opportunities to not only have fun, but be good citizens. Let’s rally together and cheer each other on in our Springtime Fundraisers and Festivals!
Spring Fling at Blowing Rock School is our 1st event and Blowing Rock School’s first Health and Wellness Spring Fling with not just 1 but 2 days of super-fun
communitywide activities on April 23rd & 24th. (Please see Sarah’s story for more details). The Fun kicks off Fri. Evening, April 23rd, with a Family Spaghetti Dinner, Movie night for the kids, live music and the start of a silent auction.
Saturday starts the day off with a 5K run sponsored by
Rumple Presbyterian Church and the Blowing Rock PTO. Events continue with all kinds of games and activities, and so much more. Registration for the 5K can be done online, or download a form from the website. Elkland Art Center of Todd is putting the “fun” back in fundraisers with our 2nd Saturday event. This non-profit community arts organization is hosting a FUN(d)RAISER on Sat., April 24th, in the Todd Mercantile on Railroad Grade
Road. The day will have great music, kid’s crafts, even videos from last year’s Liberty Parade, a runway fashion show, and plenty of food. Proceeds go to benefit community projects of Elkland Art Center and Admission is $2 and $5 per family, plus donations for activities and food. For more info, call 366-877-5016.
For all of you concert lovers out there, get your fix all day long with the Thawout Boone Music Festival Sat., April 24th, at the High Country Fairgrounds in Boone from 10 am – 11 pm. Some of the featured 14 bands
include Throwdown Jones, Bafoodus, Melissa Reaves, Sweet Revenge,and more. This festival is sure to bring loads of fun with more than 20 food and craft vendors on site, as well as overnight camping being available. Tickets are $17 in advance and $25 at the gate. Yeehaw! Get ready for the Spring Bike Rodeo & Rally hosted by the Boone Area Cyclists Club on Sunday, April 25th, at the Greenway Recreation Complex in Boone. This will be a fun way to teach Kids’ Bike Safety, and there will be Skills Activities taking place from 2 – 4 pm, and then Adult Biking Activities from 4 – 5 pm.
