Beech Mountain offers Free Sledding Hill

Winter has arrived in the High Country. Snow is magical as it can bring so much happiness to kids of all ages. Yes, parents included.

We encourage you to pack up your snow attire and grab the sleds for a fun family adventure at Beech Mountain’s free youth sledding hill.

Beech Mtn Sledding Hill
This sledding hill attracts people from all over the Southeast. We are lucky to have it in our backyard for free of charge for children 12 and under. Adults are allowed to sled with their small children. The hill is situated right beside the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce. The average snowfall is around 90 inches of snow during winter, but there is also a snow gun located on the hill to keep conditions great for all the guests.

All families need to bring their own plastic sleds. You do have the option to purchase a sled at the store beside the sledding hill. Great family music is playing on a loud speaker and hot chocolate is available for purchase. The hill is open seven-days a week (weather permitting) with safety personnel on duty at all times.

“We provide real-time updates from the sledding hill,” says Beech Mountain tourism director Kate Gavenus. “All we have to do is look out the window.”

As stated on BeechMtn.com, parking is available across the street near the Brick Oven Pizzeria, while restrooms are available in the Chamber/Visitors Center. People are encouraged to call (800) 468-5506 for hours of operation and to receive live updates on sledding conditions.

What are you waiting for? Go have some family fun in the snow.
