Calling All Mothers of Preschoolers (Birth- Age 5)

Are you feeling overwhelmed with life with your preschooler(s)?  Do you need to connect with other moms who are going through the same joys and challenges?  MOPS may be for you!

First of all, MOPS does not involve cleaning of any kind! (except cleaning up after the meetings)  The only kitchen activity involves eating a yummy brunch, and you are guaranteed to have fun!

What is MOPS?

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom – urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms – moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today’s mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books, this website and the MOPS International Membership.

Here are some other things you need to know:

There is a $23.95 registration fee for your membership in MOPS International.  This includes a year subscription to MOMSense Magazine, and a book to correspond to our MOPS theme.  Each meeting costs $5, which pays for childcare and other expenses. Your first meeting is always free, so you can try it out!  We do have scholarships available and will not turn away any mother on the basis of financial need.

During meetings children are cared for in a parallel program called Mopettes, by a group of screened and trained teachers.  Your child will be grouped according to age in a preschool-like setting.

Does that sound good to you?  Good news: Area MOPS groups are starting up next week! We now have two MOPS groups in Watauga County, giving you more options to fit into your schedule. Blue Ridge MOPS also has a room for your home-schooled children to do activities while you’re in the meeting!
