It has been nearly 30 days that hubby has been on his special diet cutting out everything except fruits low on the glycemic index, vegetables, and meat.  Hubby has hypothyroidism and you can read more about it in this post On the Road to Thyroid Healing.  I am so proud of my husband, he has done great!  This diet has been a tough one, but he has stuck to it and now with only one day left he is about to start reintroducing foods back into his diet to see what foods that he is sensitive to.

Hubby still isn’t sure what he might have to cut out of his diet permanently, but he has a sinking feeling that it might be gluten.  I am praying that it is not, but at the same time I would not be surprised.  Gluten has seemed to give him a lot of problem in the past couple of years, as it does for more people than you might realize.

If hubby needs to go gluten free or not, I always like to be well informed about foods and restaurants that cater to dietary need of individuals, just in case. So, I did a little research to find out about places in the high country that have gluten free menus.  For you if you have a gluten intolerance or those you might know who need to eat gluten free.  Although I am sure there are many restaurants that will cater to individuals that might have to eat Gluten Free it is also always good to know places where you can just sit down and ask for a regular menu.

Chick-fil-a: There are now many grilled chicken options including in the kids meals!

Which Which: One of my new favorite sandwich spots, which which offers a bowl option where it is presented in a yummy sort of salad sandwich sort of a presentation.

Ruby Tuesdays: I’m not sure if they have a gluten free menu or if it is marked on their menu, but apparently it is easy to find.

Did you know that Earthfare in Boone has a hopping cafe with all kinds of meals?  We have made Earthfare Family Dinner Night (Kids Eat Free on Thursdays) a tradition, since it was also dance class night.  The kids work up an appetite dancing, then we hop over to Earthfare for a healthy, filling dinner.

I, for one, was very surprised when I saw the large cafe with abundant seating, the hot bar, the huge salad bar, and the panini sandwiches and sides! And they have Wifi, which makes it a win-win for this work-at-home mom!

November 15, 2010 (5-9 PM) will mark the 10th anniversary of Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday dinner.

The free meal is a special “thank you tribute” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join us for Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday dinner.

Last year’s Military Appreciation Monday was a huge success, honoring over 335,000 veterans and active duty military with a free dinner buffet and beverage. All Golden Corral restaurants nationwide participated in this event and, together with guests, collected a record total of over $808,000 for the Disabled American Veterans organization, which will be used by state and local chapters to assist veterans.

To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 2.5 million free meals and contributed over $4.1 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization.

The month of June is packed at Chick-Fil-A of Boone! Monday, they launched the Spicy Chicken Sandwich: the first new sandwich since its Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich was introduced in 1989. So needless to day, many of the events this month will focus around the newest fiery addition to the menu!

Tuesday, June 8th 6-7:30Pm is our Raving Fans Night where every guest who dares gets to try our New Spicy Sandwich for FREE! Our Fireman Moo Cow will be there from 6-7pm too.

June 11th, the Cow and team will be at the premiere of Karate Kid at Regal Cinema starting at 6:30PM. We will have our spinning wheel with prizes and free coupons.

June 16th, 11:30-1PM we will be helping kids make cards for Fathers Day. Each child will receive a FREE gift for their dad to go along with their cards. Also, they can enter their dad in to win a really cool Chick-fil-A gift bag!

June 19th- 11:30-2PM we will be having our Spicy Chicken Rollout celebration. The Boone Fire department will be there with their Fire engines and also our own Fireman Moo Cow. Have you tried the Spicy Chicken Sandwich yet? I have, and i loved it!  I put Blue Cheese dressing on it, but next time, I’m going to add lettuce and tomato for the coolness!  The spicy seasoning is actually marinated into the meat, and the coating is the same.  I think it’s the perfect amount of spice- plenty of heat, but not enough to burn your taste buds off.  That’s how I would describe it anyway!
