February Weekend Events: Frugal Fun & Frolicking in the Snow 02/19-21

Boy, it seems like we have had to hunker down for a season with all of this snow! It has been amazing to see all of this winter wonderland beautybut then to look at the huge mounds of snow in and around the town of Boone and its parking lots is just incredible! Just where is all of that snow suppose to go? We heard about the church signs in Boone that said, “Whoever is praying for snow, Please stop!” My husband and I cracked up because he is known for praying for snow and has for years…But Please don’t send Hate mail…we weren’t talking about this much snow! For this weekend, if you can safely get out and about, here are several area happenings.



For the Frugal minded and save a penny where you can person, an Extreme Couponing workshop will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Sat., Feb. 20th, from 10 am – 12 noon by frugal blogger extraordinaire Jenny Martin of SouthernSavers.com from Columbia, S.C. Have some Fun with the “Feel the Beat, Move Your Feet” event Sat., Feb. 20th, from 10 am – 1 pm, at the Boone Mall Center Court. Designed to raise awareness about Cardiovascular Disease and sponsored by the Watauga County Healthy Carolinians and Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, get up and move to several styles of dance being represented, including Clogging, Shag, Belly Dancing, Line Dancing, Zumba, Salsa and African Drum Dance. Frolick in the snow at the “Shreddin the Love” Fundraising Event at Beech Mountain on Sat., Feb. 20th. Sponsored by Beech Mtn. Resort, Lees-McRae College and SkiNC.com, “Shreddin the Love,” benefits the American Cancer Society and Boarding for Breast Cancer, and includes many fundraising opportunities including a Slopestyle and Boardercross Competition, Verbal Auction, Benefit Concert and Free Ice-Skating to those who make a donation.
