REMEMBER TO RSVP FOR THE MOM SQUAD BIRTHDAY PARTY!  Click here.

This weekend, the High Country is thinking a lot about safety!  Check out these events that focus on keeping every member of your family safe year-round…

For the car:

Safe Kids Watauga County and Boone Ford Lincoln Mercury are hosting a free car seat check on Saturday, February 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 300 New Market Boulevard. Need more info?  Contact Tammy Nelson at 828-268-8955.

For the whole family:

Watauga Red Cross is offering a community CPR/First Aid class, Saturday, February 21, from 8:30am to 5:00 pm. Cost is  $45 for both, $35 for CPR only and $25 for first aid only.  For more info or preregistration (required), call 828-264-8226.

For man’s best friend:

Watauga Red Cross is also offering a Pet First Aid class on Sunday, February 22, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. Cost is $30 for both cats and dogs, $20 for cats only and $20 for dogs only. Course will include care tips for healthy pets, as well as information on how to care of a sick or injured pet.

My personal favorite:

Watauga Red Cross is offering a safe babysitting class on Saturday, February 21, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at BREMCO on 411. The class is $30 and is offered to kids from ages 11 to 15. Class members will learn basic childcare like feeding and diapering, along with safety and supervision skills. Must register and pay in advance. For more info or to sign up, call 828-264-8226.

So go out this weekend and have some fun (of course, who knows?  The kids may be in Saturday school!)… just remember to think about safety while the opportunity is there!  Thanks to the Red Cross for reminding us to protect all of our precious family members!!!
