This Freebie Friday is going to be a little different! Last week, I announced the Family Reading Challenge.
We have been so blessed with the addition of Roberta Edmisten, who writes our bi-monthly book review column! Her experience as a teacher and love of books come through in each review, and she gives us parents awesome tips to enhance our reading experience.
Roberta had the idea to hold a Family Reading Contest to see how High Country Families are using her tips. I thought it was a great idea, and here we are! Here’s how it will work:
- Between now and February 28, choose a book from any of the Roberta’s Book Nook columns to read with your family.
- Use some of the tips Roberta gives for pre/during/post reading your chosen book. ( you can modify the tips for a book of your choice, if you can’t get ahold of one of the review books)
- On the Contest Post at the end of February, you’ll leave a comment explaining what you did. You can also send in pictures of activities or artwork, and I’ll include them in the post. (email any pictures to singforhim94@gmail.com)
- In early March, we’ll award the prize by random drawing from the entries!
For the prize, we will offer a “Family Reading Package,” including books and other goodies.
We have now secured a Family Reading package from Jennifer Lawrence, consultant for Usborne Books! Jennifer will be offering a random participant:
See Under the Sea (facts and flaps -ages 7 and up)
Puzzle Ocean (stories with picture puzzles -ages 5 and up)
Dot to Dot Seashore (ages 4 and up)
A $25 Value!
So what do you think? Are you in? Leave a comment here if you are planning to participate, and let me know if you’d like to host an Usborne Book Party, and I’ll forward it to Jennifer.
High Country Parent contributors share our experiences and advice, what works for us. We make no guarantees that you will have the same experience or results, and are not always experts. We’re in
Yay, Niki! We are going to do it, too. (of course, I can’t win, though) But it’ll be fun!
So, will it just be me and Niki? Woo hoo! Niki will win the prize then! {wink, wink}
