With the holiday season growing closer everyday, many folks are already brainstorming for gift ideas. This year, why not make it a goal to celebrate in a more environmentally responsible way? On Monday, Nov. 10, the Watauga Cooperative Extension invites the public to join local crafters and community leaders in “greening” the holidays by reducing waste and buying locally. Visit educational stations that aim to share new ideas to celebrate the holidays in sustainable and creative ways.
As part of the Low Impact Living Workshop Series, the Watauga County Extension will be hosting “Greening Your Holidays” from 3-7 p.m. at the Agriculture Conference Center, located at 252 Poplar Grove Road in Boone. Drop in anytime. Bring the whole family to see demonstrations on green gift wrapping, kid-friendly gift creations, naturally made ornaments, natural cleansers, and more. Local businesses will also be on hand to show how you can access eco-friendly gifts in the local community. For more information on this event, contact the Watauga Extension Center at 828-264-3061. (There will be door prizes and live music, too!).
