July is passing off quickly, and I’m certainly not ready for it to be over! But, there is still plenty of Summer
activities going on to keep us amused and entertained. This weekend, go on and get out…take your family out for a cultural experience with an eye-catching Fireworks show to go with it. Continue the cultural theme by attending a theater show, then head on over to some of the Festivals going on. Lots of fanciful fun going on! Make sure to be a part!
Expand your cultural world at the Lake at Chetola in Blowing
Rock as they host the 24th annual Symphony by the Lake, a Symphony performance and Fireworks Finale Fri., July 23rd, at 7 pm. If you want to have a picnic by the beautiful Chetola Lake, gates will open at 5:30 pm and the orchestra will perform at 7:30 pm, with fireworks after the performance.
Tickets for adults are $26 and $10 for children under the age of 12. Tickets sell out quickly, so make sure to get your’s ASAP! You can find them at the Blowing Rock Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce or by calling 828-295-7851. Also purchase tickets online at www.blowingrock.com.
Take in a musical with Horn in the West’s Powderhorn Productions “This Ark is Leaking“, a children’s play, at
10 am this Sat., July 24th, as well as Saturdays, July 31st and August 7th. Held at the Daniel Boone Amphitheater, located at Horn in the West, tickets are $3 for children and $5 for adults. Receive one free adult ticket by buying two children’s tickets. For more info call 828-264-2120.

Come and be a part of the Appalachian Voices and the
Watauga Riverkeeper Festival Sat., July 24th, for the 1st Watauga Riverkeeper Festival at Valle Crucis Community Park from 11 am – 5 pm. The Festival will have snacks, games, nature walks, river activities, and all kinds of outdoor fun. Musical entertainment will be provided by Melissa Reaves and other local musicians. The annual Blueberry Festival at Old Orchard Creek
Farm in Lansing is this Sat., July 24th, 12 – 6 pm, offering Blueberry picking by the bucket, live music, BBQ, iced tea and blueberry cobbler. Two-time Grammy-winning bluegrass and folk musicians Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer will provide live music. Mountain City, Tenn., host the Sunflower Festival Sat.,
July 24th, from 9 am – 4 pm on Main Street.
