Lots Going on at Black Bear Books!

I stopped by Black Bear Books this morning to get some work done.  Black Bear is my new favorite place to do a little work in town (free wifi with purchase), or meet friends!  Bald Guy Brew Coffee, cozy atomosphere, great books, and now… YARN!

Black Bear has a new owner, new decor, new website, events and happenings, and a new partner in Laura’s Yarntasic! The manager Erin shared all kind of fun projects and events going on at Black Bear.

New Website!

Black Bear Books WebsiteAt the new website, you can see featured new arrivals, and what’s coming soon, upcoming events, and even Black Bear Book’s Twitter feed! They are bringing in several authors for book signings and readings this summer! You can also SHOP ONLINE! So if you can’t actually make it out to the store, but still want to support our local independently-owned store, you can!

New Owners!

New owners Karen Hall and Chris Walker are really energizing the store, and taking it to the next level.  KAren has been a TV writer, producer and consultant for many years, and she is a fascinating person!  Check out her list of shows, including M.A.S.H., and recently 2 episodes of a new show “The Good Wife.”  I know you will recognize some of the shows!

New Decor

The signature look of the store is the same.  It’s very cozy and clean, and you feel like you’re in someone’s living room. (at least I do)

Coffee Shop

Children's Corner

Battle of the Books

Black Bear Books has posted the Battle of the Books List for 2010-2011, as well as stocked all the books from the list.   If you buy the entire set of books from the list, you get a 20% discount, so you can get a head start on next year.  At the end of the ’10-’11 season, Black Bear will host a pizza party for anyone who reads through the entire list!  Area private schools will be holding their own Battle of the Books competition, since they are excluded from the official public school program.

Stay tuned to the High Country Mom Squad for news about Parent Child Book Club, and Laura’s Yarn Nook soon!

I love the children’s area at Black Bear Books! Definitely interested in the parent/child book club! I have been wanting to participate in something like that!
