Make Plans to Attend Festive First Friday on December 1

Make plans to come Downtown for festive, family-friendly fun activities this Friday (December 1st) evening!

There will be carolers and cloggers, orchestras and snowmen, Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as a community Christmas tree lighting!

Festivities start at 4 pm and continue until 8 pm! Parking is FREE Downtown after 5 pm!

SCHEDULE:
4:00 pm – Festivities kick off! Carolers, cloggers, and a Snowman will be walking around Downtown
4:00 pm – The Grinch Live at the Library
4:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Santa will be at Mast General Store downtown
4:30 pm – Mrs. Claus will be at the Historic Post Office to help you write letters to Santa
5:00 – 8 pm – Christmahanakwanzika Celebration at the Jones House
5:15 – 5:45 pm – Appalachian Rhythm will be performing in front of the Appalachian Theater
5:00 pm – 7 pm – the Watauga High Orchestra (WHO) will be playing at select locations downtown – check back for specific locations!
6:00 pm – Christmas Tree Lighting at the Jones House
7:00 pm – The High Country Grizzlies and our Snowman challenge the kids of the High Country to a SNOWBALL FIGHT (using marshmallows) in the Hope Pregnancy Center parking lot – bring a bag of marshmallows and join in the fun!
8:00 pm – Festivities wrap up

There will also be lots of great Christmas Treats downtown!

*Warm up by the campfire at Footsloggers and enjoy s’mores and hot cider

*The Turchin Center will have Christmas cookies and hot cider with Holiday Piano Tunes being played

*Ransom will have cupcakes and Pizza by the slice ($)

*Lost Province is Roasting Chestnuts on an Open Fire and serving Sticky Toffee Pudding. ($) They will also have live music from 7:30 – 10:30 pm.

*Wine to Water will have a Chocolate and Wine tasting from 6:00 to 8:30 pm

*There will be Christmas Cookies and warm drinks at the Jones House

*Boone Bagelry will have an assortment of delicious, festive hot drinks like Gingerbread Lattes, as well as Grinch cookies, Rice Krispie Trees, and Gingerbread cookies, as well as house-made dog treats! ($)

*Mast General Store will be popping Popcorn hot and fresh all evening! ($)

3rd Place is hosting Appalachian State Expressive Arts Therapy honor society’s yearly art show GLOW, GLOW, GLOW

Shear Shakti will host the Peel Literature and Arts review Fall release party, with food, drinks, poetry readings, musical performances, and visual artists.

Nth Gallery will be exhibiting the Imperfect Suburbia event and show with photographic works by a variety of artists. Starting at 7 pm.
