November Weekend Events: Give Thanks and Get Prepared 11/20-22

Whew, how hectic it can be, but planning is the key and you can have a sane Thanksgiving MenuThanksgiving AND enjoy it too! Barb’s Tasty Tuesday article this week really gives a great day by day plan of how to accomplish the craziness of this Holiday. Even in the midst of this, don’t forget to have fun and spend some time with the family. Here are some weekend events to get you going with the start of Holiday Markets, Church Bazaars, and Christmas Tree Shopping.

Farmers Holiday MarketsThe Watauga County Farmers’ Market is having a Holiday Market the Saturday before and after Thanksgiving, November 21 and 28, from 10 am – 2 pm each day. The Market will feature Christmas Trees, Wreaths, Foods from Pasta, Bread, and Cheese, to Meats such as Lamb, Pork, Beef, and Chicken and Eggs. You will also find wonderful Homemade Soaps, Wool Hats, Jewelry, some Produce and Herbs, Jams and Jellies, Quilts, Candles, Baskets, Pottery, and so much more. The Fresh Market in Blowing Rock will hold 2 Holiday MarketHoliday happenings, a  Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday, November 24, and a Christmas Market on Thursday, December 17, from 3 – 6 pm both days. Featured will be Baked Goods, Jams and Jellies, Goat Cheese, Desserts, Fresh Eggs, Meats, Freshly cut Christmas Trees and Wreathes among other items. The Holiday Market takes place along Wallingford Street in downtown Blowing Rock with parking available in the new Two-Level parking deck beside the American Legion building. Howard's Creek Baptist Church logoThe Howard’s Creek Baptist Church is having a Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale sponsored by the Searchers Relay For Life Team on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 8 am – 3 pm at the Holiday Market picThree Forks Baptist Association Building located on N.C. 194 north, just one-half mile from New Market Centre, on the left. On display for sale will be Ornaments, Gift Baskets, Holiday Decor, and much more. The Bake Sale will include Homemade Jams, Jellies and Baked Goods. Sausage gravy and biscuits will be served for breakfast, and hot dogs will be served for lunch. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Holiday Market and giftsDon’t forget The Boone Service League will be hosting its annual Holiday Market on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the National Guard Armory from 9 am -3 pm. Make sure to see Sarah’s story on this in a previous article.

 

The High Country United Church of Christ in Vilas will be havingAdvent Festival an Advent Festival which is an alternative holiday shopping event on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 am – 2 pm. Lots of Family friendly activities  including Entertainment, Snacks, Making Ornaments for Kids and Adults, and Advent Wreaths, Decorating Cookies, Yoga and Dulcimer lessons, and lastly, “Shopping for the perfect gift purchased from a member of our church or community”, a spokesperson said.  For your Holiday Shopping, check out these items that will include: Photography, Crafts, Pottery, Yoga Sessions, Dulcimer Lessons, Ornaments  for Kids, Advent Wreaths, Scandinavian Heart Ornaments, Books, T-Shirts, and much more. Apple Hill Farm logoChristmas on Apple Hill Farm takes place this Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, and Weekends through Dec. 13th from 9 am – 5 pm each day. Christmas Trees, Custom-Made Wreaths, and Gift items are offered at the Apple Hill Farm Store. A Half-Hour Walking Tour or applehillfarmMini-Tour of the farm is available $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10, and Children under 3 are free.
