The March of Dimes Walk America is Now the “March for Babies”

We all know friends who have given birth prematurely. Or maybe we ourselves have experienced premature birth. In January of 2001, I developed pre-eclampsia, and had to have an emergency C-Section at 34 weeks. Although my daughter wasn’t ever in immanent danger, those 12 days spent recovering myself, while watching my first baby struggle, were very hard.

Through the March of Dimes, many innovations have already been made, so that every baby has the greatest chance to be born healthy, and thrive despite prematurity.

Highcountrymommies.com has formed a team that will walk this Saturday, April 12 at ASU in Boone. If you’d like to know more about the March For Babies, or donate, visit their team website, (click here) Their goal is to raise $1000, and they have already raised $775! I think the Mom Squad can help them reach or even exceed that goal! Whether you can donate $10 or $100, every dollar helps.

Here’s a message from the team captain:

“We’ve formed our March for Babies team to raise money to help all babies be born healthy. Please join us in this important endeavor. Simply sign up from this page.

The money we raise helps fund research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies’ health today.

Can you think of anything more important than the health of our babies? If you can’t join us, please donate to our team from this page. It’s fast, easy and secure.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.”

If you’d like to volunteer in the High Country area, you can contact Elizabet Franklin at EFranklin@marchofdimes.com.
