weekend events 6/19-21

At the beginning of the list of activities in the High Country this weekend, it is very important to me to mention that there is a benefit for Andy Christopher, High Country dad and founding member of the Lazybirds, who has been in and out of the hospital recently with serious heart trouble.  The event will take place at the Dragonfly Theater and will feature The Lazybirds, Lost Ridge Band, and Upright & Breathin’.  Saturday night at 9 pm.

Watauga County Relay for Life event begins at 6:00 on Friday, June 19th at Watauga High School.

Friday, June 19th, 5:00 – Concert on the Lawn at the Jones House welcomes Michael Reno Harrell and Rod Farthing.

Horn in the West opens Friday, June 19th at 8:00.  Be there for the opener of the show about the events that made this area what it is today!

Saturday, June 20th the Valle Arts Benefit runs from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Original Mast Store in Valle Crucis.

Also Saturday, June 20th, Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation will have a FREE tennis clinic, open to all, from 2:00-3:00.  Keep your eye on the calendar at www.BlowingRock.com, also, as they sometimes do kids’ clinics!

Sunday, June 21st, as we all know, is Father’s Day.  Show dear old Dad some serious love with homemade crafts, breakfast in bed (but not too early), and a quiet afternoon nap.  My girls like to give their dad coupons for things like “one free back-scratching” or “one free foot rub” or even “an hour of peace and quiet”.  Get creative, and you can give dad a wonderful Father’s Day without breaking the bank!  Does anyone have suggestions for great and wallet-friendly Father’s Day gifts?  Share them!!
