Fall Bazaars and Festival Days are here again as we welcome in the Autumn season. The rich jewel-toned colors of the leaves and trees, apples, pumpkins and cinnamon aromas, and crisp cool air all signify the changing of the atmosphere. Here are some Family Fun things to do this weekend to encourage us to get out and enjoy each day.
The 25th Annual Fall Bazaar at the Boone United Methodist Church is happening Friday, September 18th from 7:30 am until 7 pm, and Saturday, September 19th from 7:30 am until Noon. This year, one of the highlights will be the Child Identification Program offered for free by the Boone Police Dept. on Friday from 2pm until 7 pm. This is a great way to feel more secure about protecting our children and have some fun shopping for new treasures.
After shopping make sure to stop by the Pumpkin Patch and capture the
memory with your child’s picture taken for $5.00. I usually attend and find wonderful items from Clothing and Furniture to Electronics and Craft/Home Decor, etc. There will also be a Silent Auction on Friday until 6 pm with items such as Gift Certificates, Jewelry, even 2 Chancellor Box Seat Tickets and Parking Pass to a Western Carolina Game, and much more. You won’t want to miss the excitement! For more info, contact www.booneumc.org or call (828) 264-6090.
After spending ti
me at the Bazaar, follow up with Cove Creek Farm Heritage Day on Saturday, September 19th from 10 am to 5 pm at the Historic Cove Creek High School in Sugar Grove, just eight miles west of Boone. The Grand Marshals, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shipley, start off the Festival with an Antique Car Parade followed by games, demonstrations, live music, food and craft vendors and activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Soon after the opening ceremony, there will be a Horseshoe Competition then Live Music under the tent. Miniature mules and
Face Painting are sure to bring a smile to the kids faces, while Barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes and so much more just scream Festival. In addition, a Silent Auction will be open until 3 pm. Admission to the Festival is $2 for adults and $1 for children, and it will be held rain or shine.
Have fun and make the most of your weekend with your Family and Friends!
