Oh, my goodness, there is SO much going on in the High Country this weekend! I don’t know how I’ll decide!  I’m just going to post them in good ol’ fashioned list form and if you want to share any more information, feel free in the comments!

5:00 PM-2:00 AM Boone Art Crawl!

On the first Friday of the month, Downtown Boone holds an Art Crawl, with many local establishments hosting art shows and refreshments. Art Crawl Presents features a local musician at an area establishment after the shops close, about 7:30.

Join Green Mother Goods for Authors’ Night during the Downtown Boone Art Crawl on Friday, Aug.7th from 5-8pm. It will be an opportunity to meet local authors Julia Taylor Ebel, Judith Geary, and Nora Percival. There will be book signing as well as storytelling by local legend Orville Hicks at 7pm and impromptu stories throughout the evening.

Orville Hicks is known for his telling of Jack Tales and other mountain lore passed along through generations of his family near Beech Mountain. Julia Ebel is the author of five books that keep Appalachian stories alive. Ebel and Hicks will be signing their new book Jack Tales and Mountain Yarns as Told by Orville Hicks. Judith Geary is the author of Getorix: The Eagle and The Bull, a novel about a Celtic Adventure set in ancient Rome. Percival’s book, Weather of the Heart, was selected as Memoir Book of the Year by the High Country Writers Organization and tells of her childhood journey out of revolutionary Russia.
