We have such a busy life, as a family, and we are always having to grab food on the go. And since we live 20 minutes out of town, we can’t just scoot home for a quick bite.
One of the reasons I love Weight Watchers is because I can eat out and know for certain that it won’t throw off my healthy eating plan. However… (there’s always a however, right?) I went on vacation to THE most delicious city in North Carolina: Asheville; and ate at the gourmet restaurants at Biltmore Estate at that! Honestly, I stopped counting, because the food was just THAT good! There are great healthy options at Biltmore, but I could NOT stop eating the incredible desserts!
I had lost 8 pounds before vacation and I haven’t even weighed in yet since we got back. But the fact remains that I MUST get back on the wagon! I’ve got to start counting again and making good choices!
When we’re out and about, I can always count on Subway to get something quick and low on the points list! So I was excited to try their new Orchard Chicken Salad Sandwich. (One of the Fresh Fit Sandwiches)
We also missed our friends, being gone two weeks, so we called some of them up, and had an impromptu Subway Party at our house! We got a sub platter (including two footlong Orchard Chicken Salad subs) and to our delight, our friends came with a 2-hour notice!
I will tell you that the Orchard Chicken Salad was the first to go! I put it together with an apple, and some Baked Tostitos for this 9 point dinner. Actually more like 7, because the sandwich was cut in thirds.
- 6″ Subway Orchard Chicken Salad: 7 points
- 7 baked Tostitos: 1 point
- 1 apple: 1 point
What did I think?
I absolutely loved the Chicken Salad. We love it chunky, so this was perfect, including the chunks of celery, dried cranberries, apples, and more. It was light on the mayo, so if you like your salad with more mayo, you can just add some on the sandwich (but be careful, it adds points!) I like to have the choice to keep it light or add more.
The only thing, in my opinion, that could be improved is the crispness of the fruits and veggies in the salad. The apples and celery were a little soft for my taste. But I combated that by adding lots of fresh lettuce to add crunch.
My Subway standard used to be Turkey and Provolone, but now it will definitely be the Orchard Chicken Salad. With the extra BONUS that it is on the $5 Footlong list!
TASTE IT YOURSELF!

My favorite is the oven roasted chicken breast – sometimes I get the low-fat honey mustard on it and sometimes I’ll ask them to put marinara sauce from the meatballs on it to make it a chicken pizza sub! Yum! But I’ve tried the orchard salad and it’s really good too! A great choice for the summer weather!
