AdFit ~ The Adolescent Fitness Initiative & Lifestyle Change

AdFit is here and raring to go! AdFit is an abbreviation for Adolescent Fitness and is a Summer program helping promote healthy and active kids through out the summer months and sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. The goal of this program is to help reduce risks that are a known part of kids being overweight and diseases that come with those complications such as Diabetes 2, Hypertension, and Low Self-Esteem or feeling bad about themselves.

This program is designed to bring about positive lifestyle changes early on in kids’ lives by educating them and having funĀ activities like Exercise, Eating Properly, and a Feel-Good Outlook! The AdFit program is for kids ages 9-12 with a Body Mass Index or BMI equal to or over the 85th percentile. If you are not sure about the BMI of your child, your Doctor or Healthcare Provider will be able to help you determine this.

Now, all of this sounds great, but the real deal is that the program runs from June and through to August, every Monday – Friday with drop-off times at 7:30-8 am until 4 pm costing only $80 a week per child. That is a steal compared to other programs, babysitters, etc and the cost covers Activities, Field Trips, Lunches, and Snacks. The best part is that the kids have an AWESOME time and get to do some AWESOME activities like outings to local Parks, Hikes throughout Watauga County and much more.

Here is an example of a day at the AdFit program:

  • Check-In and Breakfast from 7:30 – 8:00 am
  • Games and Travel time to Activity Destination 8:00 – 9:00 am
  • Weight Training and Cardio Exercise 9:00 – 10:00 am
  • Swimming and Pool Time 10:00 – 11:00 am
  • Playing at the XRCade 11 am – 12:00 noon
