August Weekend Events: Summer’s Bountiful Harvest 08/24-26

Here in the middle of August, as the nights are getting longer and it gets dark earlier, gardens all over are ripening and coming into the harvest phase. Our Summer season has had it’s ups and downs with a very early Spring, some weather mood swings, and several days and weeks of extreme heat. Some gardens, including mine, have suffered with blight on the tomatoes and other vegetables. This has been disheartening with the hard work put into the process. Even so, gardens have flourished and produced a Summer’s Bountiful Harvest!

It has been exciting to see how plants and vegetables grow and ripen on the vines, and having been given the privilege of  teaching our kids about God’s creation. We have also been saving seeds as produce has matured and the amount of seeds put into each plant is just amazing!

As I have pondered this, my heart filled with joy knowing that just as seeds grow and produce a harvest, we produce a bountiful harvest teaching our children and watching them mature and grow! I have to stop and thank God for the gifts that He’s given me…my family. Take the time today to do the same and let your family know how much they mean to you! Start with this weekend and go have some fun.

August Weekend Events: Summer Days Are Quickly Fading! 08/17-19

As school has gotten underway and routines are being put into place, life for many is settling down with schedules instead of spontaneity. That in itself is not a bad thing, it just means that we are moving from one season to the next, and it is happening fast!

Just in the past week, the weather has been changing and getting cooler at night and darker quicker. This says that summer days are quickly fading, but that doesn’t mean that the fun of summer is over! Quite the contrary. There are always lots of exciting activities to do around the High Country. August Weekend Events: It’s Back To School Week! 08/10-12

It’s Back To School week and things are crazy busy for our household! After having a nice but short summer, we are working on the newness of having twins in High School and the adjustments to schedules, routines, and much more. Whew! Just getting bus schedules straightened is a chore and kids not getting home until almost 5pm. It isn’t all bad, just change, and change can be good and bad, even at the same time.

Change brings about opportunities, and really, it is how we view change that can be affect us positively or negatively. I don’t always do a great job of seeing things in a positive way, but usually at some point, I do tell myself to see the good and move towards that.

This weekend has some great opportunities for positive happenings to take part in. Grab your family and friends and go. I’m positive you’ll have a great time! (smile)

ReSound for Women! A New Christian Women’s Support Group in the High Country

ReSound for Women! is a new Christian Women’s Support Group right here in the High Country. This support group is a place where women can meet together, a place of healing and grace finding encouragement, not condemnation, empowerment and equipping to be all that God has for them to be! A ministry through Healing Waters Ministries, ReSound for Women is there to be a help and to support.

Healing Waters Ministries has just opened its doors recently, but has been in the works for quite some time. Founder Keri Hamrick has had a heart for women for many years. With her background in social work, Christian counseling and life coaching, she knows that this is a natural progression with an initial endeavor of this women’s group.

As the foundation of this support group, Healing Waters is a place of healing and restoring for those who have been through life circumstances causing “Heart Hurts”. It is a place of support, ministry, and prayer coming together to lift one another up and allowing God to bring wholeness to lives.

The mission of Healing Waters is accomplished through teaching, training, equipping, and empowering so that in turn women can find healing and wholeness. Come and discover your spiritual identity and authority as you take back surrendered ground from the enemy!

The next meeting of ReSound for Women! is this coming Tuesday, July 24th starting at 7pm. Monthly meetings are every 2nd & 4th Tuesday nights from 7-8:30pm held at 315 State Farm Rd., next to the VFW in the brown brick hexagon shaped building. Donations accepted. July Weekend Events: Sultry Summer Days! 07/20-22

Welcome to the sultry Summer days of July! Yes, it seems that our weather has been quite sultry, humid, dank, heavy, well you get the picture…hot and humid! I’ll admit, there have been some nice times of refreshing breezes, and it hasn’t been as bad as other places around us off the mountain, that’s for sure.

This week has been crazy busy for me as I’ve been teaching in our VBS adult class and due to not having enough room, we were outside under a tent. For the most part, it really was not too bad until today when it was very humid and there were flies all around. What was exciting though, was that we were able to see a rainstorm come across the mountains and thankfully we didn’t get wet. It was really cool to hear it first and then see it as a line coming at us of rain. It was refreshing to say the least!

This weekend has some awesome activities to bring not only Fun, but also Family and Fellowship with each other. So let’s get started, there’s no time like the present, rain or shine!
