Benefit Concert with Sara Bareilles in Wilkesboro, October 9, 2010

The Wilkes Heart and Stroke Walk will be held at Wilkes Community College on October 9, 2010. According to the event coordinators:

This is an annual event to celebrate the life of Sam Day. The walk is a fun family event that promotes exercise and a healthy lifestyle as ways to prevent cardiovascular disease. Participants leave knowing that not only have they done something for a worthwhile cause, they have spent the day doing something good for themselves.

We are a small group, working for a large cause and we hope you will join us on October 9th. Cardiovascular disease touches all our lives in some way, but by working together we can make a difference!

But this year, there is a huge twist!  Wilkesboro native, Josh Day is Sara Bareilles’s drummer.  He is the son of Lynn Day and the late Sam Day for whom this walk honors. So this year’s event will include a concert by Sara Bareilles herself, joined by the Kruger Brothers!

The whole day will be a family fun event! The seating is on the lawn, so bring blankets and chairs, and food will be available for purchase.  all the proceeds from the day will go to the American Heart Association.

The Walk starts at 11 AM, and the concert follows at 1:30 PM on October 9th.
