Boone Handmade Market

Have you wondered how you can support local business people in the High Country, including women and moms?  ASU’s Turchin Center for the Visual Arts has the answer!  They are hosting the first Boone Handmade Market, presented by the ASU Arts Management Organization.

Here are the details from the Turchin Center Website:

On Sunday March 28th, 2010 over 36 emerging and established artists of the High Country will make their way to Boone’s Turchin Center for the Visual Arts to sell their locally handmade goods. All artists live in Boone or in the High Country and will be selling all everything handmade from delicious sweet treats to jewelry, sculpture, fashion, pottery and so on. This is a great opportunity to support your local community and buy locally!

This is Catharine Milner, who has recently created Dandy Dots Refashioned Clothing.  She uses vintage fabric and 90% “upcycled” materials.  Catharine will be one of the vendors at the Market.  She specializes in dresses and skirts, dance and yoga wear.  In this phot, she models a scarf/necklace made from an old t-shirt.  You’ve got to see the creative ideas for post consumer clothing she comes up with!!

Here is another high-waisted pencil skirt she made:
