Wee-Cycle is having a virtual sale! {GIVEAWAY}

Shopping at Wee-Cycle has gotten easier! You get to shop online and then drive-thru to pick up.

Shopping for gently used clothing items online can be tough! Wee-Cycle has asked its consignors to inspect all items before adding them to the sale. So, at pick up, you can pull to the parking lot and look through your items. If clothing does not meet quality inspection (stained or misrepresented or not sized correctly), you may bring it back to the counter for a return. Electronics are also in this category and if not working properly, you may bring them back to the counter. Please note that once you leave the parking lot, all sales are final.

How do you shop?

Go to https://weecycletogo.com/, browse items by clicking on the category, or typing in the search bar! Add to your cart and purchase. All credit cards will be accepted. Give the Wee-Cycle team a couple of days and your items will be ready for pick up at the Boone location! Pick up will be on Friday, September 25, 2020, from 10:00 – 2:00 and 5:00-7:00. Shipping is also available. A charge of $10 flat rate per order. Once the team packs your items, you will receive an invoice if it costs over $10 to ship your box. (If it is more than $2 less, you will receive a refund). Larger items will incur additional costs.

GIVEAWAY

Let’s start your shopping experience by entering to win a $25 gift card. Visit https://weecycletogo.com/ and let us know your top item that you need for your family. Leave a comment below by noon on September 16, 2020. We we contact the winner on that afternoon!

7 Common Questions Parents Have About Orthodontic Treatment (WIN Kids’ Sonicare!)

Reed Orthodontics is an orthodontic practice in Boone, located at 870 State Farm Road. After practicing in Ocala and Crystal River, Florida for 35 years and treating over 10,000 patients, Dr. Reed transitioned his practice to his son and moved to Boone to provide orthodontic care to this community.

Dr. Reed would like to share this information from the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). If you have any questions, leave a comment below, visit their website at www.ReedOrthoBoone.com, or call Reed Orthodontics at 828-286-9797 for a FREE consultation. I took my 8-year-old daughter for a consultation with Dr. Reed.  You can see a video of our visit on the right! ~ Sarah

7 Common Questions Parents Have About Orthodontic Treatment

Today, nearly four million children in the United States and Canada are receiving treatment from members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). And while parents know that orthodontic treatment results in a healthy, beautiful smile, many don’t realize the important long-term health benefits.

As part of its commitment to education, the AAO provides parents with this list of answers to commonly asked questions about orthodontic care.

1. Why is orthodontic treatment important?

Straight teeth and properly aligned jaws contribute to good dental health, as well as overall physical health. Orthodontic treatment can boost a person’s self-image as teeth, lips and jaws move into position and improve appearance.

2. How can a parent know if his/her child needs orthodontic treatment?Reed Ortho

The best way to know whether your child needs treatment is to visit an orthodontist. The AAO recommends that every child get a check-up with an orthodontist no later than age seven.

3. What if my child still has baby teeth at age seven? Should he/she still see an orthodontist?

Yes. By age 7, enough permanent teeth have arrived for an orthodontist to evaluate how the teeth and jaws meet, and to identify current or developing problems. If your orthodontist finds a problem, he/she can discuss with parents any treatment that may be necessary.

4. How does a child’s growth affect orthodontic treatment?

Treatment and growth often complement each other. In some cases, the orthodontist takes advantage of a child’s growth to guide jaws and teeth into their ideal positions.

5. How often should my child visit our orthodontist while in orthodontic treatment?

Typically, a child will see the orthodontist every 6-12 weeks throughout the course of treatment.

Reed Orthodontics6. If I currently don’t have an orthodontist, what is the best way to find someone to treat orthodontic problems?

To find an orthodontist near you, ask for a referral from your family dentist or you can visit www.braces.org and click on the Find an Orthodontist service. It is important to choose an orthodontist who is a member of the AAO. Orthodontists receive an additional two to three years of specialized education beyond dental school to learn the proper way to align and straighten teeth. Only those with this formal education may call themselves “orthodontists,” and only orthodontists may be members of the AAO.

7. What is the average cost of orthodontic treatment?

Fees will vary, depending on the treatment needed and can usually only be determined following a clinical examination. Most orthodontists offer convenient payment plans, making treatment more affordable than ever. Most orthodontists will work with you to find a plan that fits your family budget. In addition, many patients have dental insurance that includes
orthodontic benefits or a Flexible Spending Account which allows a portion of the orthodontic fee to be paid with tax free dollars. Check with your employer’s human resources department to learn about your insurance coverage or Flexible Spending Account.

Back to School Picture Time!

Read to the end for an exciting giveaway!

Did you love picture day when you were small? I know I did! At least, I thought I did, for about 5 minutes. On my very first picture day ever, the photographer–I recall he was wearing a very nice cologne–handed me the most beautiful teddy bear I’d ever held, and then took one (one!) picture of my precious six year-old self, smiling and hugging my bear. Then, he destroyed my world; he took back the bear.

I, being a six year-old hillbilly with no experience in these matters, had thought I was going to be allowed to keep the pretty bear. If he’d taken another shot with his big black camera right then, he’d have immortalized my usual expression—one of dismay and confusion—rather than the happy smile he’d conjured with his empty promises of beary bliss. I was devastated.

After that, I don’t think I ever had a good school picture. This may be because I’m really not photogenic, but I prefer to think that it’s because of that mean, mean old photographer and his lies. He simply made it impossible for me to smile convincingly for the camera. In my mind, the person behind the camera will always be poised to take something away from me as soon as I stop smiling. Is it any wonder I look so bad in all my pictures?

What is it with the photographers that come to schools? You get one pose. One chance. One shot, and if your kid is picking his nose when the flash goes off, he will forever be ‘the nose-picker’ to teacher and classmates alike, because that’s his one shot, and that’s what’s going in the yearbook.

Thank goodness, we have more options today! I’m just crazy about the idea of school photos taken by someone who actually cares how the pictures turn out. Even homeschoolers need school pictures for the family yearbook, right?

Swanky5Studios will be holding back-to-school mini sessions in Roan Mountain, Tennessee on Thursday, September 8 and Saturday, September 10. Each mini-session will include a 20 minute styled shoot with nifty props like books and rulers and desks. (Desks seem a little schoolish to me, but they’re probably better props for photos than the standard homeschool kitchen table.) And the shoot is in an apple orchard, so there will be plenty of apples for teacher.

You don’t just get one pose, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Just make sure your child knows that she can’t keep the props. I wouldn’t want anyone’s life to be ruined the way mine was.
