Many 4th of July events are canceled this year, but some events are still a go with new social distancing measures. Please contact us if you know of any other events. Remember to practice social distancing. Stay safe and healthy!

Beech Mountain

Sugar Mountain

July 4, 2020 – A spectacular fireworks show, sponsored by the Village of Sugar Mountain Tourism Development Authority, viewed from Sugar’s 5,300’ peak begins around 9:00 p.m. The Summit Express chairlift runs Saturday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. for mountain-top fireworks viewing. No mountain bikes after 7:00 p.m. Typical Mountain Boys perform at the base lodge from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and food and beverages are available.

West Jefferson

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Ashe County is moving their 4th of July fireworks show from Ashe Park to 368 Ray Hill Drive – West Jefferson. This location, which is the ridgeline between the water tank and cell tower in West Jefferson, is directly across from Mt. Jefferson Road and actually can be viewed from both the 221 side as well as Main Street West Jefferson. The combination of being both a high vantage point along with the parking capability made this an attractive area for our fireworks. They do ask that everyone please view the show from the safety of their vehicles as this property allows the viewing area to be widespread. The show will begin at approximately 9:30 pm on Saturday, July 4, 2020. They will have local law enforcement, fire departments, rescue squad, and parks & rec staff on hand to assist with the traffic and parking. The list of available parking lots includes Ashe County High School, Old Lowes Foods, Wal-Mart, Lowes Hardware, State Farm Insurance, Ashe Civic Center, Skybest Security (Mt. Jefferson Road), Skyline National Bank, Goodwill, Auto Zone, Steve Johnson Auto World, Lifestore Bank (Mt. Jefferson Road), Midway Baptist Church, and Main Street West Jefferson. If you have any questions, please give call at (336) 982-6185.
