Free Developmental Screenings for 4 Years Olds in April

WHO PROVIDES THIS SERVICE AND WHY?
Many agencies in Watauga county come together to provide these free screenings as a service to our community. No matter where your child will be for Pre K (at home with a parent/relative, Day care, Head Start or NC PRE K classrooms) the developmental screening can provide helpful information to a parent about their child’s development.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

All families who have a child that will be four years old by August 31st, 2014.

WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE?

To receive information about your child’s progress in speech/language, motor skills, and age appropriate concept development. For parents who wish to apply for NC PRE K, participation helps you meet the application requirement for a Developmental Screening.

WHEN CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?

You have a choice of two days: Friday, April 4th or Saturday, April 5th. Appointments on Friday April 4th will be conducted at your choice of one of four schools.(Cove Creek, Green Valley, Hardin Park or Parkway) Appointments on Saturday, April 5th w ill be conducted at Hardin Park. All families in need of translation services will be scheduled for Saturday, April 5th at Hardin Park School.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PARTICIPATE?
Call Renee Battle at 264-7190, between February 1st and April 2nd, to schedule your screening appointment. When you call you will provide your child’s full legal name and birth date.

Plan for your child to be involved in the assessment for a little over an hour. During that time you will complete a parent survey about your child.
