HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! The End of a Year, The Beginning of a New Decade: Dec. & Jan. Events 12/31 – 1/3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! This is the end of a year and hopefully brings many happy remembrances, but also maybe some bittersweet memories. However, it is the beginning of a new decade! I truly believe that this is a start of many wonderful things to come in this New Year. As we move into January 2010, we have the Opportunity to Set New Goals, Change the Past into our Future, and Walk with Confidence into New Opportunities and Seasons of Our Lives. It is up to us as to how we percieve this new year and what we will do with it, so remember that our “Words Make Our World” ! Let’s stay positive and start off the New Year with Life-Affirming aspirations and Enjoy Our Lives and Loves, and don’t forget to Laugh a lot too! Here are some events for our entire family to help take us into the New Days of 2010.

Bring In The New Year Party For Kids! Most of the time, New Year’s Eve Parties cater to the Adult crowd, but let’s not leave out the kids!  Buckeye Recreation Center in Beech Mountain is throwing a Bash just for the Kids with a special New Year’s Eve Party from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, Dec. 31st. The event will feature dinner and a bounce house. For more info, call 828-387-3003.

 High Country New Year’s Eve Celebrations Mountain Style ! Bring in the New Year 2010 by celebrating at one of the High Country’s finest Ski Resorts with a big bang! Fireworks, champagne toasts, torchlight parades, music, ice skating and other specials will salute 2009 to an end and march us into the New Year. With skiing conditions being great, the resorts are celebrating already. Here is what some of the resorts in our area have to offer for New Year’s Eve festivities on Thursday, Dec. 31st.

Appalachian Ski Mountain invites the public to join them for one of the best nights of the year with fireworks, which has been a custom since 1992. This year the show is provided by Zambelli International at midnight with a nominal parking fee. Before the fireworks, Skiing and snow-boarding are available until 11:30 pm and a Torch Light Parade follows after the lifts close. Also enjoy breakfast from 9 pm – midnight in Appalachian’s restaurant. 

Sugar Mountain Resort invites the public to “Celebrate New Year’s Mountain Style”, free of charge, with a TorchLight Parade and Fireworks at midnight. Indoor festivities include enjoying the Terry Batson Band, known for their combo style of beach and disco music. Guests have two options: tickets for the Band Room are $80 per couple, $45 per person and include an hors d’oeuvres basket and champagne toast; tickets for the Lounge are $45 per couple, $25 pre person and include a champagne toast. Dress is casual. Reservations for the indoor festivities are required and can be made by calling 828-898-4521, extension 233. Outdoor activities include Midnight Ice Skating for only $5. What a deal…Ice Skate under the stars and watch the Fireworks! Munchies Snack Bar and Game Room will be open by the Ice Skating Rink, to ensure a fun filled family atmosphere for New Year’s Eve.”

Beech Mountain Fireworks are provided for the public and starts at 10:30 pm. Dance in the New Year to live music in the Beech Tree Bar and Grille by Chasing Edison, a groove-based rock band playing styles as diverse as progressive metal to improvised jazz-fusion with an awe-inspiring kaleidoscopic light show. This is sure to be a unique show! Cover charge is $10, $25 to reserve a table. For reservations, call 828-387-2011, extension 208.

Whether you attend a Hot Spot or Party in town, up at a Ski Resort, or stay at home, Have Fun, and Be Safe!!!
