High Country Weekend Family Events April 3 – 5

It is Easter weekend! There are fun Easter events planned for Saturday. We wish you all a wonderful and blessed family weekend!

April 3:

1. Mystery Hill and Grandfather Mountain Dollar DaysClick here for complete information!

2. Open Play Time at The Children’s Playhouse – Come spend quality family time exploring our art activities, pretend vet clinic, climbing wall, dress-up area, ball pit and more! $5 per person admission or buy a membership for the whole family for $100 per year. Open play hours are 10-5 Tuesday-Fridays and 10-3:00 on Saturdays.

April 4:

3. Easter Egg Hunt in Banner Elk

11:00 – Children’s Egg Hunt in Tate Evans Park with Family Fun to Follow!

Activities following the Egg Hunt include:
– Magician Jacob McCormick
– Wagon Rides
– Face Painting
– Music and Dancing
– Photos with The Easter Bunny

4. Easter Event at Laurel Springs Baptist Church at 11:00am.  This event is for the entire family. Experience Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection at Walk with Jesus at Laurel Springs Baptist Church! Families will encounter Easter through exciting, interactive stations. There will also be pizza, crafts and candy!

5. Beech Mountain’s Hoppy Easter Party at the Buckeye Recreation Center. Peter Rabbit will lead the Eggcellent Egg Hunt and other eggciting games and activities. A light breakfast snack will be served. The event is free; however, donations are appreciated. Please call for information and RSVP. They want to make sure Peter hides enough eggs! (828) 387-3003

6. Faithbridge United Methodist Easter egg hunt, games, & activities for children of all ages – 1pm to 2pm.

8. Bonfires at Chetola – Enjoy some outdoor fun with your friends at the new fire pit by Chetola Lake at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock. Bonfires are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. every Saturday evening, weather permitting. Kids can purchase $5 s’mores kits and roast their marshmallows over the open fire. The event also features an outdoor cash bar and live music. The event is free and open to the public. 3. “Spring Ephemerals and Where to Find Them at Elk Knob Park – Spring Ephemerals are those flowers that pop up before everything else and quickly disappear before the trees are covered in leaves. In most of the state, these flowers have come and possibly gone. If you think (like I do!) that beauties like blood root, trout lily, and trillium don’t stick around long enough, they are just starting to come up at Elk Knob State Park.
