Meteorologist Brad Panovich Creates Snow for Blowing Rock WinterFest

Go ahead and mark your calendars for the Annual Blowing Rock WinterFest, January 24-27, 2019, and enjoy the fun side of winter in the High Country. The many events at the WinterFest include the icy Polar Plunge in Chetola Lake, WinterFeast, WinterPaws Dog Show, WinterFashion Show, ice carving, Winter Beer Garden and Meteorologist Brad Panovich’s snow making demonstration.

On January 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., join Brad Panovich, Chief Meteorologist at NBC Charlotte, for a snow making demonstration in Memorial Park. He’ll explain the science behind snow making and create a pile of snow for all to enjoy!

Please visit the website for the full schedule of events and descriptions. There is an event for the entire family.

Please note that The Winter Warmer Project, organized by the BSG bike ride committee, will be stationed on the Chamber lawn serving hot chocolate and collecting warm winter items for those needing them in the High Country. The most needed items are blankets (all sizes), socks (wool blend or fleece preferred) and gloves. Other requested items are coats and shoes/boots. The organization will also accept donations by cash, check or credit card. They’ll use these donations to pay off school lunch debt in Watauga, Ashe and Avery county schools, buy coats sizes they do not collect, and pay off electric bills for folks who are struggling.
