The openings are available ASAP and will last throughout the current school year.

The WCS Director of Elementary Education Tamara Stamey said:

“We encourage parents of 4-year-olds that may be eligible for the program to apply for a space right away. This is a very high quality service, and we are certain there are more children in Watauga County who would benefit from attending the program.”

There will 10 openings available at Mabel, two at Bethel and one each at Cove Creek and Valle Crucis.

Your child must:
– Be four on or before August 31, 2012 (copy of certified birth certificate required)
– Live in Watauga County (proof of residence required)
– Provide the following before application can be considered for acceptance:
1) Proof of residence
2) Copy of the child’s certified birth certificate
3) Proof of income
(copy of 2011 tax form 1040 line #37 or 1040A line #21) must be attached to the application
(without these three documents, the process will be delayed).

The size of the Pre-K program for the next school year will depend on the budget that will be passed this Spring. We will keep you up-to-date with any new information.
