Registration is open for Appalachian State’s Community Music School

The Community Music School (CMS) at Appalachian State University announces that online registration for the fall semester is now open through Friday, August 24.

ASU-CMS provides non-credit music instruction for youth and adults in the local community as well as surrounding Western NC counties. Director of CMS Laura Chu Stokes says, “we’re excited to begin our 15th year of music instruction to students in the High Country. And new this year is a Drumming Circle for youth & adults. Our instructor, Shawn Roberts has many years of drumming and percussion experience and can’t wait to get started.”

Instruction is offered at the CMS building in Boone on 134 Doctors Drive in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, guitar and drumset/snare.

Instructors include Appalachian State music faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as area teaching artists. Students enrolled in the CMS program have multiple opportunities to perform in both formal and informal settings such as on stage at the Hayes School of Music and holiday gatherings in the fall and spring at Brian Estates, a senior community in Boone.
