Summer Art Workshops for Kids and Teens at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts

Registration is now open for a variety of Appalachian State Turchin Center’s summer art workshops for kids and teens. Pre-registration is required.

Kids Art workshops Turchin Center

International Art

Ages: 6-12, Dates: June 19-23, Time: 1-4 pm

Young artists will travel around the world to experience cultural history and international art and learn techniques and styles to create art.

Empowered Journaling

Ages: 12-16, Dates: July 10-14, Time: 1-4 pm

Participants will explore thought-provoking subjects and create journal pages to reflect thoughts and feelings.)

Drawing from Life

Ages: 10-15, Dates: July 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27, Time: 10-12 noon

Young artists will explore and develop skills, confidence and creativity in drawing from observation.

Famous Artists

Ages: 6-12, Dates: July 24-28, Time: 1-4 pm

Participants will discover the world of fine arts by examining famous artists from the past such as Pablo Picasso, Sonia Delaunay, Alexander Calder, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Georges Seurat and create work in a similar style.

Trash Art

Ages: 10-15, Dates: August 7- 11, Time: 1-4 pm

This class is all about TRASH! Participants will create all kinds of fun works of art using recyclables including water bottles, bottle caps, grocery bags, zip ties, plastic lids, cereal boxes and so much more!
