Santa, hot chocolate, carols, and music! Entertainment in the park and family fun all afternoon. Free!

Free hot chocolate and cider are available from 4 to 7pm. All events take place in Memorial Park, right on Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock. More lights than ever this year!

Free Parking is available on Maple Street and on the parking decks by the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum and the American Legion, both on Wallingford Street. All three public lots are just one block from Main Street.

2-7pm Hayrides through Blowing Rock

4-7pm Free Hot Cocoa & Apple Cider

Chetola Resort Festival of Lights
Blowing Rock
Begins November 29, 2019

5:30 to 9:30pm – Evergreen Room
Rumor has it that Santa’s path puts him right over Chetola on Friday and Saturday nights. Come see Santa and make sure the kids to bring their wish lists! Professional photos by Tim Turnmire Photography available for purchase for Horse and Carriage Rides and Visits with Santa.

Horse and Carriage Rides around Chetola Lake
5:30 to 9:30pm – Sign up on Timberlake’s Patio each day of event beginning at 4:45pm – First come-first served!*
Rides begin in front of Timberlake’s Restaurant and travel around Chetola Lake to the Gate House and back. Cash or credit card (or room charge for guests of the Lodge and Bob Timberlake Inn; condos can not be room charged)
Adults: $20
Children 3-12: $10; ages 2 and younger are free
*No pre-reservations will be taken

Cookie Decorating
5:30pm to 7:30pm – Evergreen Room
Bring the kids by for free cookie decorating. You provide the cookie decorators, we provide the cookies, frosting, sprinkles, and other goodies used to create a yummy masterpiece!

Chetola’s Festival of Lights Holiday displays and decorations illuminate the resort (begins Friday, Nov. 29 and runs through the last Sunday in January.)

Boone Tree Lighting
December 6, 2019

Join us in downtown Boone for December’s Festive First Friday and help us herald in the holiday season. Stop by the Jones House lawn beginning at 5:30 PM for performances by the Appalachian Youth Chorale and the Watauga High School Honors Choir. The Solar Tree Lighting will take place at 6:30 PM with the help of the Appalachian State University Sustainable Energy Society. Afterwards, hang around for a free reception with light refreshments in the Mazie Jones Gallery featuring the abstract landscape art of Rachael Van Dyke, accompanied by an indoor performance in the parlor from ASU a cappella group, the Enharmonix.

9:00 a.m. – Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Dunn’s Deli (through 10:30 a.m.)
9:00 a.m. – Holiday Market at Evans Auditorium at Lees-McRae College (through 5 p.m.)
10:00 a.m. – Christmas at Apple Hill Alpaca Farm (through 4 p.m.; tour purchase required)
11-Noon – Christmas card and bookmark making at the Book Exchange at Historic School
11-3 p.m. – Pet photos with Santa at Banner Elk Chamber sponsored by Avery Co. Humane Society
1-3 p.m. – Christmas ornament decorating at Bayou Smokehouse and Grill
2:00 p.m. – Banner Elk Polar Plunge at Wildcat Lake (plungers need to arrive at 1 p.m.)
3:30-4:30 p.m. – Cookie decorating at Banner Elk Cafe and Lodge
6:00 p.m. – Parade of Lights on Main Street (ending with festivities in Tate-Evans Park)
All day – Special treats for humans and pets at My Best Friend’s Barkery

Sunday, Dec. 8
All Day – Choose & Cut Christmas Trees at Avery County tree farms (get a free tree with Choose & Cut lodging package)

Santa & his helpers make a special trip to Beech Mountain every year before Christmas to spread good cheer – and cookies & cocoa! Join us at the 4 Seasons at Beech hotel for a visit and photo opportunity with ol’ Saint Nick. This event is free to attend, and complimentary cookies & hot chocolate will be served.
