App Ski Mtn. Giving FREE Ski Tickets on November 16, 2018

Thanks to the temperature drop, there is snow on the ground at App Ski Mtn!

Appalachian Ski Mtn.’s 57th season is scheduled to begin Friday, November 16, 2018! To celebrate, the first 100 guests to the Ticket Cashier Window will receive a FREE ski ticket!

Let the ski season begin!

Upcoming events:

  1. Carolina Snowbelles Ice Skate Fundraiser – Friday, November 23 from 5:00-6:30
    Skating is only $10/person (includes skate rental). All proceeds go to The Carolina Snowbelles, a precision dance troupe, for their trip to DC to perform at the Kennedy Center on Dec. 15.
  2.  Anniversary Weekend – December 1-2, 2018
    Celebrate 57th year of family fun as we roll back tickets to 1962 prices! $5 Ski Tickets for the Day Session Saturday & Sunday (9am-4pm).
  3. Sunday Night 1/2 Night Special – $10
    Ski or Ride for only $10. Normal Sunday Night Special session is from 7:30 – 10pm, purchase online and get an extra hour FREE!

Blowing Rock Holds Fourth of July Festivities on July 7, 2018

Make plans to extend the Fourth of July festivities into this weekend!

Join the town of Blowing Rock for games, music, and fun! Free entertainment all day, plus the best small-town Main Street parade you’ll find anywhere. All events take place in downtown Blowing Rock, except the fireworks which will be held at the Blowing Rock Country Club. The public is welcome at the Club for the special event. Find the games and music in Memorial Park on Main Street.

Here’s the schedule for the 2018 celebration (times subject to change):

Saturday, July 7th, 2018:
9am-until: Adult Horse Shoe Tournament (18 years & up, prizes awarded)

Noon – 1:30 pm: Live music with Brian Collins

2pm: Independence Day Parade

3 pm – 4 pm: Live Music with the Cockman Family

3:30-4:30: Park Games (prizes awarded for 1st and 2nd place in all games!)

9pm: Fireworks at the Blowing Rock Country Club

Let’s Celebrate Easter: 2018 High Country Family Easter Events

March 24: Easter Egg Festival & Hunt at Memorial Park in Blowing Rock 

Annual fun for kids & families! Games & Activities, Petting Zoo, Face Painting start at 10:00am. Egg hunt is at 11:00am.

March 24: Easter Egg Hunt in Banner Elk

 

March 24: The Annual Downtown Boone Easter Eggstravaganza 

Starting at 10 am, there will be programming for kids of all ages at the Watauga County Library. Activities will conclude at noon inside the library.

At 10:15 am, we will hold the 4-7 year old’s Egg Hunt first, on the lawn of the Library.

Around 10:30 am, we will do the 0-3 year old Egg Hunt.

*In the event of rain or snow, we will not do the outdoor egg hunt, however the activities will still take place indoors.

From 10 am until 2 pm, select merchants in Downtown Boone will host a scavenger Egg Hunt for kids between the ages of 8 and 12. To participate, you can pick up your scavenger hunt clue card from the Youth Resource desk at the Library. You will follow the clues to the different businesses, collecting eggs and stamps along the way. Kids can drop off completed clue cards in the night deposit box at Town Hall (567 W. King Street); several grand prize winners will be drawn from the pool of completed cards and winners will be announced Monday, March 26th. Adult supervision is required, and the scavenger hunt will take place rain or shine!

March 31: Beech Mountain’s Hoppy Easter Party

Join Beech Mountain for an Egg-straordinary Party & Easter Egg Hunt at the Buckeye Recreation Center on Saturday, March 31st. From 10:00 am – 12:00 pm the whole family will enjoy breakfast, games & activities. This event is geared toward families with children 12 & under. Call the Rec. Free admission for children at the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show

You do not want to miss this fantastic horse show and it is right in our backyard. This is a great family event and children ages 12 and under receive free admission. All other ages are $10 admission. The Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show starts this week with the Saddlebred Division.

The Saddlebred classes are loaded with chrome and flash. The atmosphere at a Saddlebred show is electric, with spectators shouting encouragement and rooting for their favorites from the stands.

The most exciting classes are the Three and Five Gaited Open Championship classes. Equally exciting are the Roadster classes, shown both under saddle and in harness. Competing with the big, beautiful Saddlebreds are the Hackney ponies, just as flashy as their larger counterparts. Also not to be missed is the fine harness division, where carriages and harness can be compared to the cost of your house!

Join the Downtown Boone Development Association and the Watauga County Public Library as they celebrate spring time and Easter with the annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Saturday, April 8 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

The Annual Downtown Boone Easter Eggstravaganza is a fun, family-friendly event for the whole family the Saturday before Easter weekend. The Town of Boone, the Watauga County Library, and the Downtown Boone Development Association together provide arts & crafts, games, and an exciting Easter Egg hunt for children ages 0 -12.

The fun starts at 2 p.m. at the Watauga Co. Library located on Queen St. in downtown Boone. Children then “parade” down to the Jones House Community Center, just a hop and a skip away from the library, for more games and an Easter Egg hunt. Free refreshments, prizes, and games are provided.

April 15: Beech Mountain’s Hoppy Easter Party 10:00am – 12:00pm Join Buckeye Recreation Center for an EGG-straordinary party and egg hunt.  We will be offering a small breakfast, games, activities, and of course a visit from Peter Cottontail.  Please RSVP 828-387-3003.  Any questions please call.

 

Holiday Stroll in Blowing Rock on December 9, 2016

Join the Town of Blowing Rock for the Holiday Stroll, a celebration of winter and the Christmas season in December. It’s like a town-wide holiday open house! It was a great success last year and Blowing Rock is excited to announce the tradition carries over to this summer. The outdoor movies this summer will be shown in Memorial Park on Main Street in Downtown Blowing Rock!
