High Country Weekend Family Events March 25-27, 2016

It’s a kick-off to Spring Break! We have lots of fun family events for you this holiday weekend. Hope you all enjoy and don’t forget to make lots of great family memories. Check out all the fun family events below:

App Ski Mtn Easter Egg Hunt

March 25:

1. Family Movies {Now Playing}

2. Blazing Easels Workshop at Appalachian State

Children, ages 7 -12
Donor: $20 for each four-week session or $55 for 12 sessions; Non-donor: $30 for each four-week session or $85 for 12 sessions

Participants will explore color, design and texture through paint, markers, Cray-pas, collage, found objects and pen. Each week will feature a new activity that will develop skills and allow students to creatively explore the world around them: basic book making, drawing, sculpting with paper and found objects, painting (landscape and still-life), cartooning and more.

All materials are supplied.

3. Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-A of Boone – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Come out and get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-A of Boone! Don’t forget to bring your camera.

March 26:

1. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-A – Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-A. Kids, ten and under, enjoy a FREE 3-count chicken mini between 8:30am-10am. Don’t forget to bring your cameras!

2.  Easter Egg Hunt at Boone UMC from 10:00 to 11:30am. It’s for toddlers through elementary ages. The event will be rain or shine!

3. Beech Mountain’s Hoppy Easter Party 10:00am – 12:00pm Join Buckeye Recreation Center Saturday March 26th for an EGG-straordinary party and egg hunt.  We will be offering a small breakfast, games, activities, and of course a visit from Peter Cottontail.  Please RSVP 828-387-3003.  Any questions please call.

4. Appalachian Ski Mtn Meltdown Games – A weekend for the crazy meltdown games. All events are free with your ski ticket. Take your best shot at tons of prize categories!

Registration will be going on all day in the Alpine Ski Shop.

10:30am – Impossible Box Contest
11:30am – Cardboard Box Derby
1:30pm – Ski & Snowboard Big Air
4pm – Trash Bag Downhill Race

5. Boone Mall Easter Parade Pageant – The 3rd Annual Easter Parade Pageant takes place at the center court of the Boone Mall on March 26. Children from birth to age 19 are invited to wear their Easter outfit and compete for crowns, trophies and banners. Registration is at 10 a.m. and the competition starts at 11 a.m.

7. Make a Bunny Tic-Tac-Toe Board at Michaels – 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. They craft, you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a quick project and take home a finished masterpiece. Sign up in store or online, or just drop in. $2 per child, supplies included.

 8. Appalachian Ski Mtn Easter Egg Hunt – A special Easter Egg Hunt will be at 2pm on Saturday (26th) for children ages 1-4. The Hunt is FREE for all participants, and will be held on the grassy knoll beside the Appalachian Ice Arena.

In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt, the Easter Bunny will be on site during the day with special treats for guests. The Slopeside Restaurant will be offering Easter Specials during the weekend as well, including an Easter Sunday Brunch Menu.

9. Bonfires at Chetola – Enjoy some outdoor fun with your friends at the new fire pit by Chetola Lake at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock. Bonfires are scheduled for 6 p.m. every Saturday evening, weather permitting. Kids can purchase $5 s’mores kits and roast their marshmallows over the open fire. The event also features an outdoor cash bar and live music. The event is free and open to the public. March 27:

Let’s Celebrate Easter: 2016 High Country Family Easter Events

Easter is arriving soon. There are lots of fun family events in and around the High Country. Check out the great events! High Country NC Easter

March 19: Easter Egg Festival & Hunt at Memorial Park in Blowing Rock. Annual fun for kids & families! Games and Activities start at 10:00am. Egg hunt is at 11:00am.

March 19: Easter Egg Hunt in Banner Elk
9:30am – Breakfast with the Bunny at Banner Elk Cafe
11:00 – Children’s Egg Hunt in Tate Evans Park with Family Fun to Follow!

March 19: The Annual Downtown Boone Easter Eggstravaganza is a fun, family friendly event for the whole family the Saturday before Easter weekend. The Town of Boone, the Watauga County Library, and the Downtown Boone Development Association together provide arts & crafts, games, and an exciting Easter Egg hunt for children ages 0 -12.

The fun starts at 2 pm at the Watauga Co. Library located on Queen St. in downtown Boone. Children then “parade” down to the Jones House Community Center, just a hop and a skip away from the library, for more games and an Easter Egg hunt. Free refreshments, prizes, and more are provided.

March 23: Easter Event at Laurel Springs Baptist Church at 6:30pm.  This event is for the entire family.
