June “Slow Jams”
Every Thursday in June the Jones House will host an event called the June Jamboree at the Jones House from 5:30-7:30. This FREE weekly event will feature “slow jams” – these are instructor-led jam sessions featuring either fiddle tunes or folk song singing, and they are intended for advanced-beginning through intermediate levels. Participants should feel comfortable playing their instrument, because the session will not include specific instrument instruction. Instead, the instructors will play tunes or folk songs at slower speeds (often for longer periods) to give people a chance to practice jamming with others. The chord changes might be discussed briefly before starting, but there will not be lessons on how to make chords or play the instrument. It is a jam session, not a lesson… but, intended for those not quite ready for the full-speed jam session.

5-week July Session
The Jones House will return to regular instruction in July for a five-week session (there are five Thursdays in July). The cost for the 5-week summer session will be $50 for adults and $30 for students under 18-years-old.

15-week Fall Session:
The Jones House will begin the 15-week fall session on August 27, 2015. It will run through the second week of December. The cost for this 15-week session will be $125 for adults and $75 for students under 18-years-old. For those who continue through the Winter/Spring session in 2016, we will again offer a discount ($100 adults/$50 students). So, the cost of 30 weeks of lessons would total $225 for adults and $125 for kids. Please inquire about scholarship opportunities if finances would inhibit participation.

There is no reservation necessary for the June Jamborees…. just show up at the Jones House between 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursdays in June. If you would like to enroll your child in the summer or fall session, please contact Mark Freed via phone 828.268.6282 or e-mail
