April Brings Dollar Days to the High Country

We all love a good deal. April usually tends to bring warmer temperatures to the High Country, but also we get an extra bonus. Dollar Days is back!

Mystery Hill Dollar Days

Beginning April 1st, all residents of North Carolina along with families and guests are invited to visit Mystery Hill for only $2 each!

Mystery Hill is located between Boone and Blowing Rock on Hwy 321. The attraction has been entertaining visitors to the North Carolina High Country since 1948. Visitors will receive a guided tour of the Mystery Platform. After the tour, guests are invited to stay and experiment as long as they like before moving on to the Hall of Mystery with a series of Optical Illusions and Hands on activities including:

The Shadow Wall
The Spooky Spigot
The Flying Mirror
Bubblerama (where you can actually stand inside a giant soap bubble)

We are so excited to extend our annual dollar days tradition beyond our High Country residents out to all North Carolina residents this year as we celebrate 67 years of entertaining our visitors” said Wayne Underwood, owner and proprietor of Mystery Hill.

The Dollar Days promotion allows anyone who works or lives in North Carolina — along with their guests— to visit at the discounted rate. Students attending a North Carolina college or university also are eligible for the discount. To take advantage of the reduced rate, visitors must present a driver’s license, college ID or local utility bill as proof of North Carolina residency. An employee identification badge or pay stub can be used to demonstrate employment at a North Carolina business. Mystery Hill will be open 7 days a week from 9-5 the entire month of April.

Grandfather Mountain opens its gates to High Country residents, employees and their guests for only $3 each throughout April as part of “Dollar Days.”

Grandfather Mountain

The month offers plenty to do inside the park, including the return of animal encounter sessions, the seasonal reopening of the Fudge Shop, discounts on Behind-the-Scenes Habitat Tours and the return of Naturalist Programs later in the month.

We’re happy to continue the longstanding Dollar Days tradition again this April,” said Harris Prevost, vice president of the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. Our guests will be especially excited to meet our new river otters, Oscar and Nova, and enjoy the spring weather at an unbeatable price.

The Dollar Days promotion allows anyone who works or lives in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga or Wilkes counties — along with their guests traveling in the same vehicle — to visit at the discounted rate. Students attending a local college or university also are eligible for the discount.

To take advantage of the reduced rate, visitors must present a driver’s license, college ID or local utility bill as proof of High Country residency. An employee identification badge or pay stub can be used to demonstrate employment at a High Country business.

Grandfather Mountain offers extended spring hours starting March 28. The attraction will be open daily, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket sales end at 5 p.m., one hour before the park closes.
