Tasty Tuesday: Homemade Valentine treats

Yes, I realize that it’s not Tuesday yet. In fact, it’s barely Monday! But I’m thinking Valentine’s Day treats and really wanted to get a word in on this today while you still have time to do something delicious before it’s actually Valentine’s Day.

This year I’ve been particularly inspired because I’ve discovered Pinterest (my user name is Barbylynne just is in case you want to follow my pins!) and I have never SEEN so many gorgeous pictures of food in my life! If you don’t hear from me for several weeks, you’ll know where to look for me!

Meanwhile, over on My Sister’s Kitchen I’ve been playing around with some fun, yummy recipes like:

Fudgy Flourless Chocolate Cookies

 Homemade Peppermint Patties

Delicious Peanut Butter Balls

Cappucino Truffles

On the other hand, if you’re feeling too overwhelmed already with the week to come, here’s a fun, easy, and FAST Valentine’s Day treat. The trick is that these are just basic homemade brownies. What makes them a Valentine’s Day treat is a simple heart-shaped cookie cutter!

Make this very easy recipe for the World’s Best Brownies.

After they’ve cooled, just use that cookie cutter. Arrange the little heart-shaped brownies on a pretty colored plate and… it feels like a party!

Plain old brownies look GREAT on a pink plate!

In my house, little things like heart-shaped brownies can make the whole day feel special. And you know what? If you have a brownie mix in the cupboard, you can use that instead of making the brownies from scratch! (Although I will say that these brownies are so easy that you might as well make them!)

I also need to mention that Stick Boy Bread Company has perfectly drool-making Valentine’s treats in the store this week.  (I didn’t realize that they make truffles too!) Be sure to look at their latest newsletter for some pictures of fabulous Valentine treat ideas that YOU don’t have to make! They’ll do all the hard work.
