Weekend Events is posted a little early this week, as we take tomorrow off to give thanks!

I’m going shopping on Black Friday to hopefully get my Christmas shopping done on a dime (literally!) But there’s an event on Saturday Morning to help you get some shopping or decorating (or resting!) done, while your kids get an introduction to girl & boy scouts!

Midnight Madness at Tanger Shoppes

Blood drive
The Watauga County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in the coming weeks: Friday, Nov. 28, from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at Boone Mall. For more information, contact Meredith Golden at (828) 264-7286.

Chetola’s Festival of Lights begins
Chetola Resort’s Festival of Lights begins Friday, Nov. 28. Horse and carriage rides will circle Chetola Lake between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for kids under 12. Santa will visit The Manor House, and the grounds will be decorated with more than 50,000 illuminations. For more info, call 828-295-5500.

Blowing Rock Christmas in the Park/Lighting of the Town

Blowing Rock Christmas parade
This year Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation will be organizing the annual Christmas parade for the town of Blowing Rock. The parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m.

Watauga County Farmers’ Market Holiday Market

Mountainhome Music Christmas concert
Mountainhome Music presents a traditional Christmas concert on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. at the Hayes Performing Art Center in Blowing Rock. This year’s concert will feature National Folklife Award Winner Wayne Henderson, Jeff Little, Steve Lewis and Helen White. Tickets cost $12.50 in advance and $15 at the door.
