The 3rd annual High Country Kids Triathlon starts at Watauga County Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. Swimming is in the pool and biking and running are on the Greenway Trail. There are 3 age groups and distances: 8 and under: swim 100m, bike 1-mile, run 0.5-mile; 9-12: swim 200m, bike 3-miles, run 1-mile; and 13-18: swim 300m, bike 4-miles, run 1.5-miles. Prizes and refreshments will follow the race. All proceeds from the race will benefit Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Entry forms are available at the pool or Parks and Rec. Dept. Boone United Methodist Church United Methodist Women are hosting the annual ABC (Attic, Basement, Closet) Sale on Friday, May 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The church is located at 471 New Market Boulevard. The will be selling  clothing and accessories, jewelry, housewares, plants, etc. A silent auction will take place on Friday.
