weekend events 6/12-6/14

With June comes the 3:30 thunderstorm, but we can still find ways to have fun, right?  I actually find that the afternoon shower really cools things down, especially at my house, where we only have “mountain A/C” (the cross breeze set up by opening windows on both sides of the house and living on the side of a goat hill).

Thomas the Tank Engine is still at Tweetsie this weekend.  Don’t miss this last chance to have a blast riding “Thomas” and enjoying the bounce houses and other extra additions to the Tweetsie repertoire.

Concert on the Lawn: The Journeymen & Andy Hackbarth and Holly Jones, Jones House Community Center, Boone, 5:00 p.m., free, 828-264-1789

Shear Madness is playing at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock all weekend – www.hayescenter.org for details.  I hear this one is a real knee-slapping comedy!

The Topless Car Wash and Bake Sale at RBC Bank (PLEASE NOTE: the “topless” thing is to get your attention – they will wash the top of your car for an additional donation) is actually THIS Saturday, June 13th, and will raise money for Relay for Life.

Art in the Park comes back to Blowing Rock on Saturday, June 13th www.BlowingRock.com

This sounds like fun……
Auditions for the play Twinderella will be held Saturday, June 13, at the Watauga High School auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Auditions are for ages 6 to 18, along with five to seven roles for adults. The production will be August 14 and 15.  www.brctnc.org has more details.

Artist and Mime Michael Cooper, Hayes Performing Arts Center, Blowing Rock, 10:00 a.m., $20 adults/$14 students/free kid w/ paying adult.

Even if it’s not sunny, I’ll be getting the kids outside this weekend!  From the Blowing Rock pool to the Tot Lot to splashing in the creek at the Valle Crucis Park, we’ll find ways to get some exercise and fresh air!  What are you doing this weekend?
