Weekend Events 9/25-27

Sunshine Ray in FallHello Sunshine, I’m glad you finally decided to show yourself and hope to see you much more in the days to come. I love the coolness of the Fall season, but could do without all of the gloom and dampness.

Here are some weekend events to get you and your family out taking in the sunshine, sights and smells of Autumn and enjoying one another, while continuing with the theme earlier in the week with Tiffany’s post on Giving and Sharing.

Our first event brings our communities together to show the spirit of ncas_cncfriendship and giving to one another. On Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27, a huge influx of bicycle riders and their families, more than 2000 to be exact, will be pouring into Blowing Rock. The Cycle North Carolina (CNC) “Mountains to Coast” event is an 11th Annual week-long bicycle tour of NC that has become one of the most popular cross-state rides in the United States. The tour is starting in Blowing Rock on Saturday, September 26th and leaving early Sunday Sept. 27th to go to Surf City, NC.
The Blowing Rock Tourism and Development Association has asked Blowing Rock School and Community to help welcome the group, help them with their luggage, provide campsites for well over 450 people with the rest spreading throughout the community, sell snacks to them, host breakfast Sunday morning and clean up when they leave.
In return, the Blowing Rock TDA will make a large monetary donation to the school, and the school will keep the money they raise at the breakfast and vending events. What a great way to share in the spirit of giving and get a return from it as well.
The town is hosting a welcome dinner with band Saturday at 7pm at Blowing Rock Memorial Park. There will be a breakfast at the school early Sunday morning and the group will leave around 9am.  There will be a lot of activity around town Friday night, Saturday and early Sunday morning with this event. Come and be a part, leave feeling great!

  1. Great stuff! There’s also a women’s and children’s consignment sale this weekend. I believe it benefits Relay For Life and is being held at Boone Advent Christian Church on King Street. The sale is on Friday, Sept. 25 from 6 – 9pm and on Saturday, Sept.26 from 8 – 2pm.
