A Day Out With Thomas at Tweetsie Railroad: This fun event starts today and will go through June 9th. This is a fun-filled event that provides children of all ages the opportunity to climb aboard and take a ride with Thomas as well as participate in Thomas & Friends themed activities. For two back-to-back weekends, little engineers and their families are invited to take a 25 minute ride on their favorite engine, meet Sir Topham Hatt®, Controller of the Railway and enjoy Thomas-themed activities at the Imagination Station, including stamps, temporary tattoos and coloring sheets.

Music in the Valle: The “Music in the Valle” Concert Series at Valle Crucis Community Park started Friday May 24th, 2013, and continues each Friday evening through Friday, September 6th, 2013. Admission is free, but a $5 donation to the park per person is recommended. Bring a chair or a blanket and a picnic, as food generally is not available for sale. All concerts start at 7:00PM. The park is located 2892 Broadstone Road, Valle Crucis.

Robbin’s Pool at Broyhill Park in Blowing Rock: The weather has definitely turned warmer. Enjoy time at the pool this weekend.

Angel Bear Yoga at The Children’s Playhouse: Free with paid admission. For kids aged 2 to 5 with their parents. Come join in this interactive yoga class for parents, grandparents & children while exploring an imaginative adventure in the forest! Taught by Lynette Walker. Sat, June 1, 10:30am – 11:45am

Yart Sale: Saturday, June 1, 2013 – 7:00am – 11:00am

The Watauga County Arts Council is having a “YART Sale” on Saturday, June 1st at the Blue Ridge ArtSpace! All proceeds will go toward Renovation and Moving Expenses for the Arts Council’s move into the Blue Ridge ArtSpace.

You’re invited to come find some wonderful bargains among all the treasures brought in by other people. It’ll be a fun morning!

New River State Park Hike: Join a ranger at New River State Park in Ashe County to view and identify spring wildflowers along a shaded one-mile hike. Meet at 11 a.m. June 1 at the Wagoner Access Contact Station. The group will be hiking the Fern Nature Trail. Wear good hiking shoes. All programs are free of charge. Oasis Shriners Parade: The Western NC Shriners will be holding their parade down Main Street in Blowing Rock this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. The Saturday parade will include the famous Shriners little cars, Oasis Clowns, Gator Patrol, Dune Cats and Scooter Patrol, along with the Oasis Band.

Family Concert: Mountain Home Music will present the Whitetop Mountain Band at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m. on June 1. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children. For more information, call (828) 964-3392.

Family Hike: Join a New River State Park ranger for a “Hike and Seek Track Trail Adventure” for kids, as the group tries to find all the things in nature that hide along the trail. Meet at 3 p.m. June 2 at the U.S. 221 Access Visitor Center in Ashe County. The event is designed for kids and is part of the Kids in Parks “TRACK Trail” program.
